Mike Kohler Founder, CEO

Hunt Club Outdoors CEO and founder Mike Kohler was raised on a farm in Minnesota and spent every spare minute hunting, trapping, and fishing. Throughout his life he has pursued big game, turkeys, waterfowl, and upland game around the world and has been successful in harvesting spectacular trophies in his endeavors.

He served in the U.S. Navy and while stationed at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida, he met the woman he would marry, Leigh. Her family had strong Southern roots, having lived in southern Georgia and northern Florida since the Civil War.

Following the Navy, Mike built a successful career in the defense and technology industries . He also became one of the top-ranked professional walleye tournament fisherman in the country. He worked closely with media organizations like In-Fisherman and conducted seminars across the United States and Canada.

Although they built a successful life in Minnesota, Leigh yearned to return to the South and the rich culture she was raised in. Mike was smart enough to recognize that arguing with a strong Southern woman was futile and agreed to move South on the condition he could return to his farming roots. This meant acquiring and developing a piece of land into a premier wildlife property the family could enjoy for generations.

Ross Kohler – Head of Sales & Marketing

Ross was basically born with a rod in one hand and a gun in the other. From the time he was an infant he was always in a boat, blind, or tree. He has always had an intense passion for the outdoors that has lead him to chase game, fish, and snow around the world. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Business and Entrepreneurial Studies from Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota, in the heart of the beautiful Black Hills.

During that time he became a certified PSIA downhill ski instructor, eventually attaining Level III certification, the highest level in the industry. The family is certain he spent more time on the prairies, streams, and mountains than he did in the classroom.

Following college, he accepted a two-year contract working for the U.S. Government in Garmisch/Partenkirchen, Germany, where he taught skiing and alpine skills to our troops and allies on the U.S. Army base.

After returning to the United States, he spent a number of years working for a software company in Park City, Utah. Ross recognized that he preferred an office where the windows roll down or flip-up, or offices with no windows at all. He and his lovely wife, Mallory, decided to pack up and move closer to both of their families in Northeast Florida, where he heads up sales and marketing for Hunt Club Outdoors. Seasons and migrations of fur, fins, and feathers dictate what they’re doing in their free time.

Stephen Kohler Sales & Business Development

It all started at Dry Branch Plantation, a tract of land where our founders, Mike and Ross Kohler, would escape to spend time with family. Over many years, the Kohlers molded their land into a premier property with the genetics of a world class hunting destination for deer, turkeys, dove, and quail. It took years of hard work. Through this process, we realized that there is no one comprehensive resource that helps landowners source all the best products and services in the wildlife and landowner marketplace. Instead, we found a marketplace with expensive, substandard products sold largely in big box stores that lack in product experience and service.

We know first-hand that creating a sustainable, wildlife-rich property requires planting, timber management, habitat development, pond/water management, feral hog control, predator control, and much more. Finding resources with experienced, reputable people was difficult and scattered, so we decided to do something about it.
